The purpose of the The Black is Beautiful Softball Classic is to promote positivity as well as inspire competitiveness amongst a few local young African-American business owners and entrepreneurs. The game of softball itself was chosen to create a different atmosphere for networking outside of the usual norms while engaging in a enjoyable activity. Leon Day Park is where the event will be held in recognition and respect to Leon Day who was a former Negro league player for the Baltimore Black Sox, and elected into the baseball Hall of Fame in 1995.

Instead of just being a game of softball, we are looking to make this day more of an event. Therefore, picture booths will be setup, a plethora of alcoholic beverages in coolers will be provided as well as a live DJ and music playing.

Also, the events purpose is to raise funds towards the GLAM program, which we believe is a very important and essential foundation for young women. All proceeds from concession stand sales will go towards the foundation. Read up more about the GLAM program on the next page.
